Why did I install a Velossa Tech BIG MOUTH Ram Air Intake Snorkel?

I already have a Feimster Fabworx intake scoop on my GR Corolla. It is definitely an improvement in getting ambient air to my Eventuri intake. However, I will be installing a larger turbocharger in 1Q2026 and will need the larger surface area of the Velossa Tech BIG MOUTH Ram Air Intake Snorkel to force more ambient temperature air into the Eventuri. Feimster admitted he maxed out his intake scoop size based on the working dimensions of his 3D printer.

In steps the Velossa Tech BIG MOUTH Ram Air Intake Snorkel. I opted for a black snorkel with black trim ring for somewhat of a "stealth" look. Their high flow induction option was not needed because I don't have the factory airbox. I also didn't opt for the lighting kit.

Materials:

- 2023+ Toyota GR Corolla BIG MOUTH Ram Air Intake Snorkel (Velossatechdesign.com)
- Black zip tie for Flex Fuel Sensor wiring harness

Tools:

- 1/4" drive ratchet with 12" extension and socket (10mm)
- (2) Combination wrenches (10mm)
- Flat-blade screwdriver
- Side cutters

Notes:

1. No wiring plugs need to be disconnected. I did cut a ziptie and temporarily remove my Flex Fuel Sensor wiring harness under the Eventuri scoop. I put it back later.
2. I already have an Eventuri intake. If you have a stock GRC airbox, the upper intake scoop extension will fit into the front of it.
3. Unfortunately, the front bumper needs to be loosened at the top. Good luck if your bumper sides pop out later. I did a DIY fix on mine [LINK].
4. Reversible back to stock.

Removal:

1. Remove OE intake box and piping behind engine under the wiper cowl. Or in my case, remove complete Eventuri intake.
2. Remove OE radiator shroud.
3. Remove (3) top screws and loosen front bumper, top section only between the headlights.
4. For me, I had to remove the previously installed Feimster Fabworx intake scoop.

Installation:

1. Install Velossa Tech RAM Air Intake Snorkel behind front bumper from the top.
2. Tape nyloc nut and flat washer together. Poke hole in center.
3. Feed nut/washer combo from underneath inside a 1/4" drive, 10mm deep socket.
4. Reinstall OE intake box and piping behind engine under the wiper cowl. Or in my case, reinstall complete Eventuri intake.
5. Make sure the factory mass air meter sensor is plugged back in.
